Physical Activity for Students in Elementary and Middle School In accordance with policies at EHAB, EHAC, EHBG, and FFA, the district will ensure that students in full-day prekindergarten through grade 5 engage in moderate or vigorous physical activity for at least 30 minutes per day or 135 minutes per week. Students in middle or junior high school will engage in 30 minutes of moderate or vigorous physical activity per day for at least four semesters OR at least 225 minutes of moderate or vigorous physical activity within each two-week period for at least four semesters. For additional information on the district’s requirements and programs regarding elementary, middle, and junior high school student physical activity requirements, please see the principal. 

School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) During the preceding school year, the district’s School Health Advisory Council held 4 meetings.  Additional information regarding the district’s School Health Advisory Council is available from the Campus Nurse.  [See also policies at BDF and EHAA.] [See Removing a Student from Human Sexuality Instruction on page 5 for additional information.] 

Other Health-Related Matters

Physical Fitness Assessment Annually, the district will conduct a physical fitness assessment of students in grades 3–12.  At the end of the school year, a parent may submit a written request the Athletic Director to obtain the results of his or her child’s physical fitness assessment conducted during the school year. 

Vending Machines The district has adopted policies and implemented procedures to comply with state and federal food service guidelines for restricting student access to vending machines.  For more information regarding these policies and guidelines see the Food Service Director.  [See policies at CO and FFA.]

Tobacco Prohibited
The district and its staff strictly enforce prohibitions against the use of tobacco products by students and others on school property and at school-sponsored and school-related activities.  See the Student Code of Conduct and policies at FNCD and GKA.
